In this article, I'm going to share some of the common tips while playing with pets and the safety tips to follow when playing with them.
Safety Tips
Never allow pets to bite you or others for that matter. They are small and your hand or the toys you play with are big and the animal's mouth can be dangerous to you and others. When playing with animals, keep all the toys secured, so you don't lose them. Don't allow your pets to play with your food. Always keep their food secure to avoid accidents. Do not feed your pets near human food. Keep their food away from the kitchen. Never allow your animals to chew or drink your food without your supervision. Use gloves when you play with your pets. Do not let them bite or scratch you. Do not let pets play with sharp objects. Be careful with sharp things around your home. Always supervise your pets when they are playing and sleeping. Teach your children not to play with animals.
How To Play With Pets
Play To Their Relaxation Level To play with your pets, you should only touch them with your fingers so that they don't get any more anxious than they already are. To reduce the stress, you can just walk up to them with your finger, take out your finger and touch them. By doing so, they are likely to forget their stress and focus on you. Play With Different Positions As dogs are mostly calm, their state of relaxation is usually most evident when they are lying down or standing. To play with your dog or cat, you should always try to approach them in a position that is most comfortable for them.
How To Handle Dangerous Behaviours
Accidents happen, and the moment your pet starts displaying dangerous behaviour, stop playing and assess what is happening. Here are some common situations that you should look out for, so that you can react quickly to avoid any issues. Pain In The Ear I remember the first time I was playing with a female white dog, and I forgot to cover her ears. After a few moments, she started howling, and I realised something was wrong. She wouldn't stop until I covered her ears. Be sure to stop playing immediately if your dog or cat starts howling, as they may need to go to the veterinarian immediately. Fainting Another common behaviour to look out for is fainting. Your pet may lie down, then start vomiting, then lose all coordination.
