Causes and Symptoms of Dizziness and How to Prevent It

The word dizziness is used to describe the feeling of unease or a vague sensation of unsteadiness or motion sickness. It's believed that the word dizziness was used as a slang word by sailors and other seafaring groups for the effects that occurred as the ship rolled and pitched while they were at sea. Many people suffering from dizziness report being unable to pinpoint the cause. In this case, it's sometimes caused by certain physical conditions that can be treated but in many cases the cause of dizziness is undetermined. Dizziness occurs because the brain isn't getting enough blood flow, the blood vessels aren't getting enough oxygen or nutrients, and sometimes the body simply doesn't have enough blood.

Dizziness is often caused by a variety of factors. You may feel lightheaded and dizzy to some extent. Dizziness may be accompanied by sweating, anxiety, nausea or other abdominal pain. Causes There are many causes of dizziness. Most of the causes fall in the following three categories: 1. Cerebral problems: The brain is the most vulnerable organ, because it requires the most amount of blood. The two main ways to prevent dizziness are by losing weight and by eating healthier. Weight Loss By losing weight, you will avoid excess tension on the inner ear muscles and the smooth muscles of the inner ear can relax. This can reduce the effect of your inner ear on your equilibrium. Keeping your body at a consistent weight and size will reduce the swaying motion of your head, and therefore reduce the likelihood of your inner ear moving with your head. Weight is also very important for your overall health, not just for preventing dizziness, but also for maintaining bone density, blood pressure, and proper metabolic function. Eating Healthy Eating healthy will also help avoid dizziness because the food that you eat affects your balance.

How to treat dizziness
Causes of dizziness can be physical, mental or a combination of both. There is usually a physical cause which is often acute. This is a condition of temporary or constant dizziness that occurs when one part of the brain reacts to a change of environment. The most common causes of temporary dizziness are; Headache or migraine Headaches that occur in the front of the head and behind it is known as inner-ear disorder. Migraine is a type of headache that causes a severe pain in one or both ears, usually in the temporal area. There may be a warm spot, pain, pressure and nausea which is often felt in the middle ear space. Taking blood thinning medications: Certain blood thinning medications, such as warfarin, are known to cause temporary dizziness.

Conclusion
Dizziness can be a very common condition that is often overlooked. Dizziness can strike at any time, anywhere and at any time of the day or night. It is often a symptom of a serious condition such as heart failure, a brain condition or even an ear infection.
